Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
In short
- You can use thisis.sg as a Guest. Your layout and favourites then stay on your own device.
- We don't sell your personal data.
- We ask Google for non-personalised ads. Google may still use cookies, your IP address and device details to serve, measure and protect ads.
- Location, sign-in and bus alerts are all optional, and each is explained below.
What we collect, and why
When you use the app (everyone). Your device contacts our server to load the dashboard, so our server necessarily receives your IP address and basic browser details to respond. We use your IP address for short-lived rate limiting, which protects the service from abuse and is kept in memory only. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs.
Your settings. Your layout, theme, favourite bus stops, recent searches and dismissed alerts or ads are saved on your device (in your browser's local storage). As a Guest, they are not sent to us.
Location (optional). If you allow location access, your device's coordinates are sent with requests so we can show nearby bus stops, parking, cameras and your region. We use them to answer that request, and we don't build a location history. You can withdraw permission at any time in your browser or phone settings.
Signing in with Google (optional). We receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We store them, along with your synced preferences and a sign-in session that lasts up to 30 days, so your layout follows you across devices.
Bus arrival alerts (optional). If you turn on a bus alert, we store your device's push-notification address and keys, plus the bus stop and service you chose, for as long as the alert runs (up to 3 hours) and a short alert history (up to 24 hours), so we can notify you.
Ads
The web version shows ads from Google AdSense. We request non-personalised ads, meaning they aren't targeted using your browsing history. Google, as a third-party vendor, may still use cookies, web beacons, your IP address and device information to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud. See How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
You can also manage Google's ad settings at adssettings.google.com, or limit cookies in your browser settings.
Usage analytics
To learn which features are useful, the web app uses Google Analytics 4 to count anonymous usage: which screens you open, which cards you tap, and whether links, shares and settings are used. We never send your search text, your location, your name or your email to Google Analytics. Ad personalisation and Google Signals are turned off, no advertising cookies are set for analytics, and data is kept for 14 months.
Analytics is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Help improve thisis.sg. When it is off, the analytics script is not loaded. We also don't load it if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Other services your device contacts
- Map tiles (OpenStreetMap, OneMap) and Google Fonts load directly from those providers, so they can see your IP address.
- Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com) loads unless you turn off usage analytics in Settings, so Google can see your IP address.
- Google Sign-In loads only if you open the sign-in option.
- Weather, transport and public data (for example NEA, LTA and data.gov.sg) are fetched by our server. No personal data about you is sent to them.
Your choices and rights
- Use the app as a Guest, or sign out at any time from Settings.
- Use Reset or erase data in Settings to clear what's stored on your device.
- Turn off location or notification permission in your browser or phone settings.
- You can ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you (for example your signed-in account), and withdraw your consent.

Where your data is kept
Our service runs on the Railway hosting platform. Google, our hosting provider and the map providers handle data under their own policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and its date.
