This is definitely one of the places you have to visit if you’re here in Singapore/ coming to Singapore. It is one of the hippy estates with old shophouse style apartments which really brings you back to the olden days with a touch of modern vibe.
There are cafes & hawker food along the shophouses & there’s even Tiong Bahru Food Centre right round the corner if you want more choices. Places like Ah Chiang’s Porridge, Tiong Bahru Lee Hong Kee Cantonese Roasted and 178 Lor Mee.
When you walk around Tiong Bahru estate, it gives you such a calming experience because it feels so chill.
Even though it’s an old estate, some of the houses are very well-renovated. And you can definitely find some of these on Airbnb if you’re looking to experience living in shophouse apartments.
It is definitely worth a visit & if you’re feeling a little artsy as well. They have murals on the walls that brings you back to the olden days of Singapore (as seen in the featured image).
