Located conveniently in Dhoby Ghaut Exchange, Singapore Red Cross Society has just opened up its doors to a charity pop-up thrift store on October 5.
So what is the Singapore Red Cross Society? It is basically an independent humanitarian organisation that is dedicated to protecting human life and dignity, relieving human suffering and responding to emergencies. They have since expanded to provide blood donation drives and now, thrift shopping.
Thrift shopping has always been a cheaper alternative as compared to shopping from fast fashion. Personally, my favourite thrift shopping spots are in pop-ups like Three Blind Mice which housed different stores and people seeking to sell new or preloved items.
According to Singapore Red Cross Society, shoppers can expect to buy brand new or preloved items at “wallet friendly” prices. First aid kit supplies will also be sold for you to stock up! On the other hand, donors are able to drop off items such as clothes, electronics, toys and more at their store.
100% of the sales made through this thrift store go directly into the humanitarian services under them like ElderAid and FamilyLifeAid, also into fund-raising for COVID19 relief for the vulnerable communities in Singapore. Do show your support and shop for a cause in Shop+.
