Turning Passion Into Reality with Cockles Loved by Customers

Cockle lovers like myself would jump at the opportunity to be able to devour JUMBO and clean cockles at the recently launched Kin Hoi. If you are a true cockle fan, you would probably know that it is extremely hard to find such huge and tasty cockles in Singapore. Well now, you can get your cockle fix at Kin Hoi, located in Block 6 Holland Close.

Famous for their fresh and ready to eat shellfish, Kin Hoi first operated an online store in September before launching a physical store on 1st November 2020. It is a collaboration between Daniel Teo, a startup consultant and entrepreneur, and Atchara who is in charge of the recipes and the works. Atchara was once an executive with a notable social media firm, who earns a decent amount, but left to pursue her passion for cooking. She set up her speciality food stall at the Chatuchak Market in Singapore before venturing into Kin Hoi.

The store opens on Tuesdays to Sunday from 4pm to 10pm.

Recommended dishes to try

Cockles

Cockles sold here are amazingly clean and fresh since they put in the effort to individually clean close to 10,000 pieces of cockles per day. Shipped from East Malaysia, they split each shipment into two categories: Jumbo and normal. Jumbo cockles are half boiled, and the normal ones are cooked half shell.

Grilled pork

The Grilled Pork made here is different from the usual establishments as they fry the pork before grilling them. Besides shellfish, this is one of their other bestsellers as the pork is tender and juicy and the sauce complements the dish. If you are dropping by, do not forget to order a plate to try!

Oyster

Oysters are sold at S$3.50 per piece here. Although the price may seem a little pricey but trust me, it is worth every cent! Shipped from Japan, you can imagine the oysters to be huge. Each oyster we had measured up to our entire hand dimensions which is how big they are. You can taste the saltiness of the sea as you bite into the big fat oyster. Do note that oysters are only offered over the weekends from Friday to Sunday with a limit of 100 pieces per day.

In the secret menu not written on the storefront, Kin Hoi has a full-flavoured beef and smoked duck offered. Do order the beef as well because it is seasoned very well and tender too!

Muslim friends, do not be disappointed because Kin Hoi is planning to start a halal online store, if it works out, you can prepare to check out their physical store in the near future!
